3 Arrested for Stealing Thousands at Outlets

Police say employee at one store provided detailed description, which lead to arrest.

Police are crediting a keen-eyed employee at Timberland for an arrest of three Massachusetts on Sunday afternoon, accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from the

say they were called by Timberland store employees reporting shoplifters on Sunday afternoon. By the time police arrived the three female suspects had left, but an alert employee at the store was able to provide a description of the women as well as their car and license plate number and what was allegedly taken from the store.

Police spotted the car as it was entering the F.E. Everett Turnpike southbound and stopped the driver.

Inside the car were the three women described by the employee: Yesenia Torres, 38, of 15 Ames St. Apt. 1, Lawrence, Mass.; Mayreen Perez, 36, 231 Jackson St. Apt. 1, Lawrence, Mass.; and Alexandra Melendez-Ortiz, of 125 Jackson St. Apt. 1, Lawrence, Mass.

Police say they arrested all three women on a variety of charges after finding burglar tools, the described merchandise, and thousands more in merchandise from all around the shopping center.

All three were held overnight pending arraignment Monday morning.

Torres was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, criminal liability to conduct of another, shoplifting and possession of burglar’s tools. She was placed on $5,000 bail and is due in Merrimack's district court on Aug. 23.

Perez was charged with willful concealment and placed on $1,000 cash or surety bail. She is due in Merrimack's district court on Sept. 4.

Melendez-Ortiz was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. She was placed on $1,000 cash/surety bail and is due in Merrimack's district court on Sept. 4.
