And The Winner Is...

Elisabeth Harris wins the Outage Outrage Poetry contest.

Thanks to both of our participants in our Outage Outrage poetry contest during last week's storm. We put it to a vote and Elisabeth Harris' Snowtober 2011 poem garnered 19 of the 22 votes cast.

Congratulations, Elisabeth! You've won a $10 gift card to the Merrimack eatery of your choosing.

Here's the winning poem.

Snowtober 2011
(With gratitude to the U.S. Postal Employees of NH)

By Elisabeth Harris

We have no power    No heat No lights
But this is New Hampshire    So we'll be alright.

Through rain and fog   Through snow or hail
The trusty mail carrier  Still brings the mail.

It may be arriving hours late
You may have supper on your plate

But he or she   Will trudge on through
And all that mail   Will come to you.

And you will sort it   Then you'll shout
"It's only junk mail -  Throw it all out!"
