Barney Frank Touts Shea-Porter, Bashes Tea Party

In fund-raising email, he warns of "extremists" in Congress.

Barney Frank is helping fellow Democrat Carol Shea-Porter raise campaign cash, lending his name to an end-of-month fund-raising email.

The Massachusetts congressman's stated goal is to raise $10,000 by Tuesday at midnight. Frank, in the pitch to Shea-Porter's email list, writes:

"The Tea Party extremists have essentially taken over the Republican Party, and the right wing majority on the Supreme Court has guaranteed that these extremists will have virtually unlimited fat cat money being spent on their behalf. Since their substantive record is indefensible, they have gone on the attack, and Democratic candidates face a barrage of twisted, demagogic attacks."

Shea-Porter, a former congresswoman for New Hampshire's 1st District, lost re-election in 2010 to former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta. Guinta faces a couple of candidates in his Republican primary, but Election 2012 is shaping up as a Guinta-Shea-Porter rematch.

The Barney Frank email does not mention Frank Guinta by name.

Guinta, as incumbent, has a cash advantage at this point. Guinta has raised $1,217,629 to Shea-Porter's $608,924, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

I'm not surprised that so many people who know Carol are helping her. Carol has an excellent reputation for her hard work and her sense of fairness.

Susan, clearly you and I remember far different things about Carol.

- I remember her voting in favor for a tax on artificial limbs.
- I remember her shutting the door in the face of those of us who waited hours outside one of her town hall meetings while at the same time ushering in her own people through a back door of the building (I was there for this and saw it happen)
- I remember her campaigning against a republican who had a 88% inline party voting record calling him a puppet only then to have a 98% inline party voting record herself.
- I remember her sexist comment saying our government would be better if we "sent the men home".
- I've looked at the list of bills she put up and saw nothing of substance.
- I remember her receiving an F from the National Taxpayers Union for being one of the highest tax and spenders in office.
- I remember her plagiarizing left wing websites in her letters to the editor
- I remember her having a US Veteran locked up because she felt threatened by a letter he wrote in which his offense was quoting the NH Constitution
- I remember her publicly stating the government doesn't have to follow the Constitution
- I remember Carol having a retired police officer taken out of one of her town hall meetings in cuffs because she didn't like his questioning.

That's the reputation I remember. There was no excellence or fairness, there was partisanship and arrogance.
If you'd like I could go on with plenty more examples.

Barnie Frank? What a joke. CSP is digging at the bottom of the barrel at this point.
