Cheerleaders Earn Recognition for Win at Nationals

Town Council honors the Cardinals Midget Cheerleaders with proclamation.

The Merrimack Town Council presented the Merrimack Cardinals Midget Cheerleaders on Thursday night for their recent first-place win at the national spirit competitionheld in Florida.

The squad of middle- and high-school-aged cheerleaders traveled to Orlando for the competition on Friday, Dec. 7.

Pat Murphy, who coached the last Merrimack cheerleading squad that won a national competition – 22 years ago – congratulated the girls on their success at the competition, telling them they made the town proud.

Town Council Chairman Tom Mahon read a proclamation to the squad before presenting them with a certificate.
