Driver Sustained Serious Injuries in Friday Crash
Volkswagen Beetle driver had to be extricated from her vehicle after rear-ending a Chevy van on Industrial Drive.
Merrimack Police, Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Industrial Drive at the Exit 10 on-ramp to the F.E. Everett Turnpike. A yellow VW bug sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. A white cargo-style van that said EcoLab on it also had moderate back end damage. An occupant from each vehicle was transported to the hospital.

Two people were injured, one seriously, when a yellow Volkswagen Beetle a white Chevy Express van on Friday afternoon near the Exit 10 southbound onramp on Industrial Drive.
According to Merrimack Police, Mark Duffley, 56, of 21 Chatham St., Nashua, was driving the Chevy van and had stopped at a red light just beyond the Exit 10 on ramp when he was hit from behind by Sarah Bancroft, 29, of 19 Swift Lane, Merrimack.
The Volkswagen began to catch fire but was extinguished by a passing motorist. Police closed the road while the fire department extricated Bancroft from the vehicle. It remained partially closed for about an hour while the accident was investigated.
Bancroft was transported to Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said. Duffley was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Merrimack Police Department Patrol Division.
