LETTER: Krupp Offers Support to Kevin Smith

Merrimack resident says Smith's resume proves him best for New Hampshire's corner office.

To the Editor:

Republicans and Independents are fortunate to have two very good candidates to choose from in the gubernatorial primary. While the state would be lucky to have either Kevin Smith or Ovide Lamontagne sitting in the corner office, Kevin Smith is my choice.

Kevin’s 15 year resume includes: one term in the state house, Governor Benson’s liaison to the Executive Council, time as an executive in the State Department of Health & Human Services, and the Executive Director of Cornerstone Action. These experiences will give Kevin a unique perspective as governor. He understands what should be done, what can be done, and most importantly, how to get it done!

The breadth experience is impressive in its own right but Kevin didn’t just warm the chairs, he took active measures to make New Hampshire’s government more efficient.  In the House, he supported legislation like Right to Work before it became fashionable. While at the department of DHHS, he instituted metrics allowing State budget decisions to be linked to program effectiveness.  And at Cornerstone, he increased revenues by a factor of ten while turning it into one of the most influential advocacy groups in the state.

The governor’s job is a two-year term so there is no time for on-the-job training. Kevin Smith can walk in and turn his specific plans into action starting on day one. He has the intelligence, the ideas, the enthusiasm, and the experience to be a great governor. I encourage you to check out Kevin’s website (www.kevinsmithforgovernor.com), read his plan, “New Hampshire’s Future is Now," and consider offering Kevin your support on Sept. 11.
