A Merrimack man was arrested Tuesday morning on charges that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old Amherst teen.
Eric K. Cousens, 43, of 222 Amherst Road turned himself in to police shortly after 5:30 a.m. on April 16. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on Monday.
He is charged with two counts of felonious sexual assault on a child younger than 16 and one count of endangering the welfare of a child younger than 16.
Merrimack Police said the arrest is the result of an investigation that began back on April 2. The investigation was forwarded by the Amherst Police, as the 15-year-old victim lives in Amherst. Merrimack Police executed a search warrant on April 12 at Cousens’ home, a single-family farmhouse on Amherst Road.
Cousens was arraigned in the 9th Circuit Court, at Merrimack Tuesday morning, where he later posted $50,000 bail. He is due back in the Merrimack court on Tuesday, April 23, at 9:30 a.m., for a probable cause hearing.
