Obama Stops in Windham, Rochester Confirmed

He will speak about middle-class economic security.

The campaign for President Barack Obama released details this afternoon on two appearances scheduled for Windham and Rochester.

Obama will start this Saturday in the Windham High School gymnasium, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. and the event taking place at 2 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public, with tickets required to enter.

Those tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 8 a.m., you can visit one of the following locations to pick up tickets:

Concord OFA Office
Portsmouth OFA Office
Nashua OFA Office
Lebanon OFA Office
Keene OFA Office
Exeter OFA Office
Salem OFA Office
Manchester OFA Office
Claremont OFA Office
Peterborough OFA Office
Plymouth OFA Office
Hampton OFA Office
Milford OFA Office

Windham High School assistant principal Bob Dawson said that three representatives from the Obama campaign “literally walked in the front door” and proposed a visit from the President.

Dawson called the WHS gymnasium the “perfect” place for an event such as this, comparing the visit to that of Gov. John Lynch for the Class of 2012 graduation in June.

"This is graduation times 100,” Dawson said. "It’s the most incredible, positive PR we’ve had.”

He added that recent appearances from Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Rand Paul at the school likely made the location a good campaign draw.

Windham Democratic Town Chair Kristi St. Laurent called the visit "fantastic," saying that it's great that the town now has a facility available to provide an opportunity for campaign appearances.

"I think he's recognizing the significant voter base in Southern New Hampshire," she said.

St. Laurent has already contacted all of the members of her committee to provide ticket information.

According to Windham School District Business Administrator Adam Steel, the campaign will be charged for custodial overtime and utility charges of $20 per hour.

"The campaign will be paying for those charges directly," he said.

Information on arrangements between the campaign and the town's police and fire departments is not yet available.

The second campaign stop in Rochester will take place at Rochester Commons, with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. and the event taking place at 4:35 p.m. Ticket distribution will take place starting at the same time at the following OFA offices:

Rochester OFA Office
Concord OFA Office
Portsmouth OFA Office
Dover OFA Office
Laconia OFA Office
Exeter OFA Office
Conway OFA Office
Berlin OFA Office
Littleton OFA Office
Hampton OFA Office
Portland, Maine OFA Office

A press release issued Thursday morning says President Obama will discuss "middle-class economic security" during his two New Hampshire stops.

"The President will discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create more middle-class jobs and pay down the debt," the release reads. "The President believes the only way to build an economy meant to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down. He will highlight his plan to restore middle-class security by paying down our debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure."

In the meantime, if you continue your obsession with Mitt Romney's tax returns you will miss the campaign. If you truly think Romney failed to pay the IRS - don'tcha think Obama et al would have the IRS all over him. Just recall what happened to "Joe the Plumber". Obama has the resources to put Romney in prison if he is a tax evader. However, I still wonder why Obama sealed all his personal documents the day he took his oath of office as President of the US. Any links you might want to offer for that one?

I'm crazy like that - wanting to read the information behind nutty allegations. This may surprise you, Judy, but there are some posts here that contain erroneous information. Links to reputable sources help separate the worthwhile posts from the bull$hyt.

As for Mitt's tax returns, why wouldn't an honest man WANT to share them? It would prove Mitt is honest - and make Harry Reid look very foolish. It would quiet the calls for transparency from his own party, and he could use the facts to promote his trustworthiness and highlight his business acumen.

Yet Mitt still keeps them secret. Puzzling. What's your guess, Judy?

I really wonder if the Republicans are purposely running Romney in order to lose and give OB another 4 years. For you evangelicals, how can you vote for Romney, a man who expects to be god in the afterlife and run his own planet--as a Christian choice? satan wanted the same thing, and he got thrown out of heaven. If Romney would just burn some babies like the followers of Baal, would that help you all see what he stands for? (Google Baal and baby burning for more info.) In other words, if you took away his suit and perfect smile and actually understood what he believes, could you still make the argument that God wants you to vote for him? I would love to hear a reasoned response in which it is argued that God wants us to put anti-Christ spirits in leadership positions.

Most of what you say doesn't make sense and have no facts to back your ridiculous claims, but here's some info for you on the Keystone Pipeline to educate you a little: Real numbers on the pipeline: it will will create 6k jobs for 2 years, then nothing. The oil is brought to the coast will it be exported. The oil is already here...we send it to the Mid West currently. With the pipeline, the oil will bypass the Mid West and be shipped overseas. This means higher gas prices for those areas in the US. It will have ZERO impact on our dependence on foreign oil, and will actually result in higher gas prices for portions of the US. This is not from environmental mumbo jumbo, but from a real bi partisan study. Also interesting...the numbers originally provided by Republicans were from the oil company itself, and they stated 100k jobs created (seems they've toned that down a bit). So...that makes me wonder if the 20 billion "pumped into the economy" is also an extreme exaggeration. The only people this pipeline is good for is Canadian oil companies and Republicans receiving campaign donations from those companies.

I hope Obama will tell all the graduated seniors how his plan to give illegals more access to America will affect their tax rates, job opportunities, and increase their need to pay to learn Spanish. He should also tell them his plans for shredding the social safety net by adding more of the world's poor and by adding more debt to the shoulders of the good worker bees from NH. Finally, he should discuss how the standard of living in the US for the peasants must decline in order to be fair to the rest of the world. He should then shut the door of his limousine and chopper back to his taxpayer paid for jet to return to his life of serving the people. He is a nation destroyer and those of you who support him kill your children's and your own future and personal safety by doing so.

23 million out of work Americans, why ...no jobs

now add 1.7 million illegals given amnesty by Bolshevik obama to the job market

now tell us how this helps 23 million American families put out of work by obamas failed policies
even the 500 bucks he charges them for amnesty will be eaten up by his goberment agencies that will be overwhelmed trying to process all the applications ...hell,in the end its going to end up costing the real American tax payers money ...like all his other bright ideas
and as we speak thousands of illegals are pourng over our borders with 500 bucks in their pockets and will all be claiming they have lived here for the last 5 years .we all know how efficient obama is, if the 1.7 million number was figured out the way the commiecrats do math it will turn into 10 million in no time

David:

Which attack on Obama would you like me to more fully explain? If you are in the current job market, you know what an advantage it is to speak Spanish. In other words, if you don't, you either don't get hired, have to look for other jobs, or pay time and money to learn the language. This time and money that could have been spent elsewheres now must be poured into a country that is foolishly trying to accomodate the Spanish-speaking invaders from Mexico and further south. The recent ruling of Obama to give illegal kids job opportunities and deferred deportation is but one example of Obama's willingness to burden NH grads with the costs of illegals. Check out FIARUS.ORG for more information on the assault on your economic and cultural future that is being abetted by Obama. The issue of debt destroying safety nets should be obvious as the government is constitutionally obliged to pay the debt but is not so obliged to provide medical care, unemployment benefits, Food Stamps, and the like for the poor.

As far as the religious nonsense, I was speaking to people with the intelligence to see God exists and that Jesus was his son. Romney does not believe this to be true, and thus, should be anathema to Christian voters. Obama believes that allah exists and that he must serve him by bringing down America. He calls the rag known as the koran as the "holy koran." Thus, he should be anathema to Christians.

> He calls the rag known as the koran as the "holy koran".

As does any person who wants to create light as compared to heat. Bigots are the ones who refer to others' holy books as "rags".

And finally, President Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim, and based on his actions versus yours, probably a lot closer to Christ's beliefs and teachings than you are.

If he were a Christian, he would understand that the koran, as it is not the word of God, cannot possibly be holy. The koran states that God had no need of a son, and thus, rejects Jesus. Again, a Christian cannot call this rag holy. He is a non-Christian who calls the koran holy. Gee, my analysis that he is a muslim is just so far fetched!!!

Obama bowed to a muslim king, celebrates muslim holidays at the White House, and calls the koran holy. The koran cannot be considered holy as it denies that God needed or had a son. For the people: look up online "Obama and muslim" and watch him repeatedly call the koran holy. He is either a muslim or an utterly unschooled Christian. If he calls the koran holy because he sees all religions as leading to God, he must not have read Jesus's words that Jesus was the way to the father. Jesus did not say that he was one of many ways. If he had called the book holy to please his supporters, he could have said "the book muslims claim is holy." Otherwise, he was being dishonest. Instead, he labelled it holy, which it is-- only to muslims. He is either a fool, a fraud, or a muslim.

Anger and frustration are usually a result of miscommunication and misinformation. Don't listen to FOX or MSNBC, if the election of the next president is as important to you as it seems (and to anyone for that matter), just make sure you have the facts. You owe that to yourself.

Truth: I take it you have not read any of the koran. If you had, you would know of the three choices for unbelievers--death, conversion, or the payment of an annihilating tax. Good muslims cannot be multiculturalists as their holy book does not allow for permanent peaceful coexistence with nonbelievers. A muslim can befriend a nonbeliever if that protects the muslim. A muslim can also claim to be Christian if that furthers the cause of allah. The president of a republic cannot be true to both his oath of office and his belief system as a muslim. Only people who are ignorant of the truth of islam or the truth about God--that all roads cannot lead to God--could possibly be happy with a muslim with power over a republic.

From what I have read, people called him Barry as a nickname (Barry Obama). Jan: The President also supports cutting people off from health care.
Examples;
The President did question why Medicare would give his grandmother a hip replacement after she was diagnosed with Cancer.
Obama said “you just get into some very difficult moral issues” when considering whether “to give my grandmother, or everybody else’s aging grandparents or parents, a hip replacement when they’re terminally ill.

“That’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues,” he said in the April 14, 2009 interview. “The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health- care bill out here.”
He also said doctors take out tonsils because they make more money doing that then prescribing a pill.
He then appointed Dr Berwick, in a recess appointment, as head of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr berwick has written papers supporting rationing of health care.
And the FDA has recommended delisting a cancer fighting drug, Avastan, because of cost concerns. If they do, it will no longer be covered by Medicare.

The President, in his own words and actions, supports a policy where you will not have that choice. He supports a policy to ration healtcare or have government bureaucrats dictate the allowanle procedure.
"You can tajke the blue pill or the red pill, but the blue pill is cheaper" This means only the blue pill will be allowed.
"A doctor makes more money taking out tonsils then prescribing the blue pill". This means only the blue pill will be allowed.
"Why would Medicare perform a hip transplant, on my grandmother, after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer" . A bureaucrat will decide that the hip replacement is not necessary.
Choice, you say, there will be no "choices"

and the EOL discussion - to be between a doctor and his patient and billable as suggested for the law by a Republican - was what set the Republican nuthouse on fire claiming death panels.

The no-right-answer of what treatment to offer is another whole discussion. Do you think spending millions of dollars for a month-longer-life is valid? I would neither put that burden on my family or on my country.

I know you want this to be an issue, but it isn't. The ACA is a much more moral way to decide who gets what, and still... if you want the expense, then you can pay for it yourself - just like any good capitalist would.

That statement alone says you believe in rationing. The problem I have is Democrats keep saying that with ACA everyone will have coverage and get the treatment they deserve. Yet, you just said, do I think spending millions of dollars for a month-longer-life is valid"? Your supporting the EXACT same thing that insurance companies currently do and that you think the ACA will prevent.
End of life choice will become a conversation between a doctor and patient that goes something like this; Doctor says you may have 1 month to a year to live, maybe longer. Doctor says you also need a hip or knee replacement to make your final months more productive. Doctor says, I need to ask Washington if they will support the knee or hip replacement. You wait weeks or months for an answer and Doctor says, Washington said your other condition will end your life in the next month to a year, maybe longer, so Washington will not authorize the operation. Doctor know says, what hospice should we put you in sop you can spend the rest of life in bed.
What a shame. Perhaps you will realize that the ACA takes away choices and limits care.

Avastan is about to be delisted because of cost. It has shown great progress in treating Cancer patients. It is expensive. This is the type of drug that the collective resources of government should be funding, instead of delisting. With the ACA, or single payer health plan, if that ever comes to be; If the governmnet denies treatment for a medical procedure who do you turn to?

Hello, this is my opinion so if you wish to call me names, it's ok, but my mother was a type 2 diabetic on insulin. After years of being diabetic she began to have problems. She lost her balance and shattered her hip, A couple years later she had colon problems due to scar tissue from radiation treatments for cancer that she had yeara earlier, The doctor had to take a large amount of her colon out which left her to deal with colostomy bags. Then at a regular check up, the doctor saw a spot on her lungs and he wanted to do lung surgery. My mother said no, she was 78 yrs old and didn't want to go through any more surgeries. The doctor honored her wishes after they talked it over. The doctor had already sent in paper work to medicare and her insurance company and both approved the surgery but they honored what she wanted and didn't have the surgery, That is what I hope the new health care the President has formed will still have. I have read everything I could on the President's plan. Here is the question I have and can't as of yet find an answer. On Mr. Romney;s plan, he says we can stay on the present system if we want. We choose an insurance company to handle our medicare and they will be investing the voucher. He is going to deregulate the banking system and I think the insurance companies also? If we choose a company and they make the wrong choices and go under like the banks did, do we lose our medical? What are our safeguards to keep that from happening.

Ruth, I'm so sorry about what happened. Romney has not answered those details about his plan. The one thing I worry about is that seniors do not want to spend their time "shopping around" with the vouchers to private companies; not to mention fight with them when they don't pay what they are supposed to, as they very often do. Just recently, I had to fight to get my children's immunizations covered (they said "oops" but I found out other co-workers had the same thing happen and the insurance companies hoped we wouldn't notice and pay. I also worry that the vouchers will stay the same as the cost of living rises every year, and that seniors will now have to pay 68% out of pocket at private company prices.

Okay JIM, let's take your hypothesis as given, if only for a moment:

Which would I prefer? A panel of Insurance Company bureaucrats answerable to no one but the Board of Directors of the Insurance Company? Or a panel of government bureaucrats who serve at the pleasure of the elected officials that *I VOTE FOR*?

Wait, let me think about that...

Nope, I just can't see the government bureaucrats as being more evil than the Insurance Company bureaucrats, no matter how much smoke you attempt to blow.

Just to expand on this death panels fear and loathing campaign by the right, this is it in a nutshell:

Right now, tens of millions of Americans have zero health insurance and a subset of these are suffering. I happen to know some myself living with treatable illnesses that are in incredible pain because they can't afford the treatment. Why? Because their jobs don't offer health insurance, and they don't have rich parents. Left untreated, these illnesses can result in permanent disability and a lifetime of pain.

I'm doing what I can to help, but the problem is far bigger than what I can do personally. This is the real death panels. The real death panels are the ones who let my loved ones suffer and call it the American dream. Republicans.

My heartfelt thanks to Barack Obama, and I can only hope that 2014 gets here fast enough to help.

FTP: Apparently you are not man enough to apologize or to even answer my challenge: Here is a proof of what I have said about the three choices of islam for unbeliever. I said that they are death, conversion, or the payment of a annihilating tax. I await your groveling apology, and I also want you to stop screaming for links as though your opponents can not argue based on facts.

Qur'an (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." Suras 9 and 5 are the last "revelations" that Muhammad handed down - hence abrogating what came before, which includes the oft-quoted verse 2:256 -"Let there be no compulsion in religion...".

Atlant: You are falling for a common misconception about islam and Christianity. The koran states in Verse 19:90 - "Those who say: 'The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,' preach a monstrous falsehood, at which the very heavens might crack, the earth split asunder, and the mountains crumble to dust. That they should ascribe a son to the Merciful, when it does not become the Lord of Mercy to beget one!" The muslims do not believe that Jesus was the son of God, even though he states this in the Bible. Their god does not have a son, and so, cannot logically be the God of the Bible. There are more verses that prove this point, but I think one is sufficient.

“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his Father, and he shall be My son.” (II Samuel 7:12-14)

TIP: I believe that Obama is a greater liar than Romney. That being said, I am saddened but not suprised that Romney is what the party thinks is best for America. I will not vote for him for a number of reasons. I intend to write in Dr. Ron Paul for president. The Republicans needed a man or woman who would close the border to illegals, restrict legal immigration, send the illegals home by punishing the corrupt employers who hire them. This leader also needed to be much more of an average citizen in terms of their personal wealth and spending habits, someone who understands hard times. This leader would also support sound money in order to stop the malinvestment and "papering over" of economic and social problems. When voters wake up and know their taxes--as opposed to their debt-have to rise to bail out a bank, most would kick and scream about it and the bailouts would have been fewer in number.

Dear Salemvoter:

Thank goodness that young, uneducated Mexicans who typically have big families are cost effective for the US to treat medically. It is almost as though older, mostly white people will die in order to pay for the care of younger, mostly Mexican people. Could that really be the outcome? Could the hard working, tax paying, and generally stabilizing older white adults have to be eliminated to balance a budget that openly welcomes burdening masses onto its rolls? That is utterly impossible.... (again, please research who the illegals are and what they cost this country in medical care to see if my thesis has any merit whatsoever) See FAIR.org for details on the continuing economic rape of America by illegals.

One thing is evident - the President is NOT solely to blame for the gridlock, malaise, and stagnation in this country. We have 2 legislative bodies in Washington whose members have perfected the art of arguing and finger-pointing at each other. Both legislative bodies need to sit down, shut up, and work TOGETHER with the President to come up with MEANINGFUL legslation to help the AMERICAN PEOPLE. That chart in the Washington Post is comical. It was written by Ezra Klein, one of the top guests on MSNBC and he also fills in regularly for Rachel Maddow and Ed Shultz. And you imply its a non-liberal article because it was in the Washington Post. If anything, it shows that papers like the Washington Post are willing to show opiniopns from both sides. Unlike outlets like the NYT or MSNBC.
But, back to the chart......How come it doesn't show the the same catagories when comparing Obama spending to Bush spending? For example, it says the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanastan resulted in an increase deficit by the Bush administration but, on the Obama side, there is no cost shown for Obamas escalation in Afghanastan.

Last night news reports at 11 said that tickets were still available. The Obama campaign must have reached out to Deval Patrick and asked him to send people.

It will be interesting to see the contrast between the Presidents appearance today and the Romney/Ryan appearance in Manchester on Monday. I wonder how many 'opem minded' progressives will try to disrupt and shout down the Romney/Ryan appearance.

Was that a great time or what? President Obama had the crowd fired up! And he's not afraid to debunk all the lies you hear here daily on Patch!

It would be fun to go to the Rolls Royce event on Monday and both see the overall atmosphere and hear the speeches; I'll be that the contrast in *BOTH* couldn't be more clear!

Four more years! Fired up! Ready to go!

Well, for one thing, he explained in pretty good detail, his cuts to Medicare.

And, surprise surprise, they match what the legitimate news media has reported about his cuts. He also contrasted his approach with Ryan's approach and, once again, what he claimed matched what the legitimate news media has reported about Congressman Ryan's plan to "voucherize" Medicare at a typical cost of $6400/year per senior citizen.

Thank you for the feedback. Just wondering if the president shared these truths with those who attended the event?

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Joe, your so-called "five truths" are pretty vague. Half the population does not depend on other to pay for them. You haven't mentioned what you would do with the handicaped, mentally ill, disabled veterans, do you want to put them all in jail or pretend they don't exist? As for the "legislating the wealthy out of prosperity" is a big joke, paying their fair share of taxes never hurt them before Bush put the tax cuts in place for his rich buddies. You do remember Clinton handed Bush a surplus and the rich WERE paying their fair share in taxes and the country was thriving. Your "truths" are twisted and a big joke......generalizing without detail....hmmmm reminds me of....wait, wait...oh yeah, Romney!

Sonia, sorry you find the five points "vague". They are really straight forward and simple.

Allow me to ask of you..

1. Please provide a case where "legislating the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity" resulted in a lasting successful outcome for all.

2. Please provide a case that proves wrong the statement "what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving."

3. Please tell me how this is not true, "The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else."

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. Please tell me how you can multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. Can you spell "Greece?"

Fair? Define what constitutes fair to you. Allow me to ask, are you paying your fair share?

Not to put too fine an edge on this, but...

Are you insane?

The school was holding as many people as could be jammed in; it's a wonder the Fire Marshal wasn't in a panic!

Once you step outside the realm of the clinically insane, President Obama remains very, very popular. Compared to Romney and Ryan, he's clearly the better man for the job and the better man to lead the world.

Only people suffering from Conservative Derangement Disorder refuse to see this.

Death Panel

House Democrats turn on ObamaCare's rationing committee.

The vehicle is a bill from Tennessee Republican Phil Roe that would repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board, or IPAB, the new ObamaCare bureaucracy with vast powers to control health care and health markets starting next year.

Laughable! Did you ever hear of lobby checks from health insurance companies? Did you ever hear of health insurance companies denying people coverage even when they have health care insurance? Yes? That's a death pannel. Private insurance companies decide who lives and dies according to how many bonuses they want to give to management, and how much money they want to make for their share holders that day.

Why thank you, I AM the best on the phone and have gained thousands of votes for the President which is how I helped him win in 2008; unfortunately for you, it will happen again. Simply explaining to you "death panel". Some politicians have to win re-election. If YOU understood that some politicians have very Republican states, they have to go to the middle and some are under pressure to do just that to win re-election. Is it a great thing to do, no; but the alternative of letting Mitt Romney win because of one topic is understandable even if I don't particularly like it. It's not a perfect system, but I realize that happens and for now, it's the system we have to work with.

What will IPAB do ?

Beginning with fiscal 2015, if Medicare is projected to grow too quickly, IPAB will make binding recommendations to reduce spending. Those recommendations will be sent to Capitol Hill at the beginning of the year, and if Congress doesn't like them, it must pass alternative cuts -- of the same size -- by August. A supermajority of the Senate (at least two-thirds of those present) can also vote to amend the IPAB recommendations. If Congress fails to act, the secretary of health and human services is required to implement the cuts.

What if Medicare's projected spending doesn't exceed the targets?

In that case, the board isn't required to make the recommendations.

And in fact, the Congressional Budget Office last year said that is likely to be the situation for almost a decade. CBO is expecting Medicare spending to remain below the threshold that requires action.

Obama gets Frosty Welcome in NH

"Arriving in the Granite State on Saturday, President Obama was on the receiving end of the ire of New Hampshire small business owners, still angry over his “you didn’t build that” comment. "

"In Windham, on the way to a scheduled speech at Windham High School, the President’s motorcade passed by a local small business with Romney supporters and a “We Did Build It!” sign."

"Another local Manchester business, positioned directly in front of the Manchester airport entrance, put up a sign “We Built This Mr. President”"

So what you are saying Timothy is that no teacher, parent or role model helped you along the way to help build your business. Did you build the internet? Last I checked, most businesses use computers, calculators, etc...did you build that too? You obviously didn't hear the whole speech...just like corporations who pay zero taxes like GE, yet they use our tax payer money to move their products on our ta paid roads and use our tax paid firefighters and police. Here's the speech, open your ears very big. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=192oEC5TX_Q
