Pair of Accidents Send Two to Hospital

Crashes sent operators to St. Joseph Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A pair of motor-vehicle accidents kept Merrimack emergency officials busy Monday evening.

Just after 5:30 p.m., a two-car accident on Daniel Webster Highway, at the intersection with Henry Clay Drive, sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Carlene Everly, 65, of Merrimack, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital after her 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis collided with a 2007 Toyata Prius driven by Danielle Levesque, 25, of Hudson.

According to police, Levesque was driving south on Daniel Webster Highway behind a truck that was taking a right turn onto Henry Clay Drive and Everly was turning left off of Henry Clay Drive, intending to go north, when the collision occurred.

Traffic was slowed in both directions following the crash as both southbound lanes were blocked by the wreckage and emergency crews attending to the scene.

Police were forced to direct traffic through the northbound lane alternating the direction of travel every few minutes. People attempting to turn down Henry Clay Drive were rerouted up to Manchester Street to come in on the other side of the road.

Both cars had to be towed from the scene.

About two and a half hours later, police were called to the scene of another accident, this one a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist who was also taken to St. Joseph Hospital.

Kenneth Osborne, 51, of Amherst, reportedly lost control of his 2002 Honda GL 1800 motorcycle near Hall Avenue on Route 101A.

Police say he was driving at a high rate of speed and when he changed lanes, left the paved portion of the road, sliding for a distance.

He was transported via ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

His motorcycle was towed from the scene.
