Police: Man Arrested for Driving Drunk With Kid in Car

A Merrimack teen was also charged with possession and transporting marijuana.

A Merrimack man arrested for alleged drunken driving on Friday had his charge upgraded because police say he had a child younger than 16 in the car at the time.

Ryan Piper, 34, of 41 Merrimack Drive, Merrimack, was arrested on Dec. 21 for operating under the influence of liquor and aggravated OUIL.

Police say Piper's  2007 Ford Fusion was stopped at 5:49 p.m. on Daniel Webster Highway in the area of the Harris Pond Plaza after they received a call about a driver operating erratically.

While speaking with Piper a report says the officer could detect signs of impairment and after further investigation, he was arrested at the scene.

Piper was released later that night on $2,500 personal recognizance bail and he's scheduled to appear in Merrimack's district court on Jan. 15.
