Crash shut road to one lane for about an hour while police investigated.

Two people were taken to the hospital on Monday as a result of a two-car accident at the intersection of Daniel Webster Highway and Columbia Circle shortly before 4 p.m.

Police were alerted to the accident at 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 6, where they found a 1996 Suzuki X90 had collided with a 2003 Dodge Durango.

Both operators, Richard Konts, 79, Claremont, and Steven Cavallo, 62, of Merrimack, were transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center by Merrimack Ambulance and AMR Ambulance, respectively, with unknown injuries.

Traffic was tied up in both directions as the road was closed to one lane for about an hour while Merrimack Police investigated the accident. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and each was towed from the scene.

Police are still investigating the accident. Anyone with information can contact the Merrimack Police Department at 424-3774.
