Woman Faces Nine Charges in Domestic Assault

A Merrimack woman is facing nine charges after being arrested Saturday following a domestic dispute.

Matthia Fogarty, 47, of 1 Surrey Lane, is charged with three counts of simple assault, two counts of attempted assault, obstructing the report of a crime, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and breach of bail.

Police said they responded to a local residence around 5:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of a domestic situation in progress. They determined that Fogarty had allegedly assaulted a male subject. When police attempted to arrest her, she resisted arrest and attempted to assault one of the officers.

Fogarty was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly leaving a 10 year old without adult supervision for a period of time, police said. She was charged with breach of bail for contacting the male party involved in the assault even though her bail conditions prohibited her from doing so.

She was held on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Merrimack District Court on Feb. 21, at 8 a.m.
