Help Feed The Less Fortunate with Food Drive Showdown

Also, the zoning board will meet tonight, a quick cold weather tip from police, use Facebook to help the Nashua Salvation Army and more news you should know to start the day.

Food drive showdown. The Merrimack Police Department and the Department of Public Works' food drive competition is under way. Drop box locations are available at the Police Station, 31 Baboosic Lake Road, and the DPW Highway Garage, 80 Turkey Hill Road. The public is invited to drop donated goods at either location of your choosing, but most of all both agencies are urging the community to help those in need this holiday season. All food collected between now and Jan. 1 will go to local food pantries to serve those in need this holiday season. The choice is yours: Badges or hard hats!

Facebook for a cause.
St. Joseph Hospital is offering a dollar donation per new "like" of their social media page in November. This month's receiving charity is Salvation Army of Nashua. Spread the word and go like the  Nashua hospital's page and help build those donations.

Zoning Board to meet. The Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Matthew Thornton Room at 7 p.m. Among agenda items are requests for two variances from Gate City Auto Collision, which is hoping to the former Uncle Hilde's Lumber Barn. Get the full agenda on the Merrimack town website.

Quick tip.
Merrimack Police remind drivers that with these cold temperatures, it is incredibly important to clear your car windows of frost before hitting the road. It may take a few minutes longer to get your car out in the morning. It could save a life.

Weather watch. Another chilly but sunny day today. It's looking like temperatures will climb a little as we head into the weekend. Today's forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 42 and a northwest wind 6 to 11 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 21.
