DW Diner Helping Make Christmas Bright at CHaD

Also the annual turkey shoot, donate a gently-used coat, learn more about hospice and your morning weather.

Taking the "hush" out of Hospice. Come with your questions, concerns, and curiosity about end-of-life care to an informative program on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Congregational Church of Amherst, led by Tanya Prather, Volunteer Manager for Home Health and Hospice Care. All are welcome. The program begins at 7:15 in the vestry with light refreshments. For more information, please contact Carolin Sanchez at 603-391-5977 or c.n.sanchez@comcast.net.

Coat donations.
Has your child outgrown their winter coat? Have some that you've kept hanging around with good intentions to pass them down to friends but never did? Consider donating them to a coat drive to help warm up some less fortunate kids this season. Find out where to drop your gently-used coat here. If you're feeling extra generous, you can drop off new coats to any of these locations as well.

Shopping for CHaD. The DW Diner is  looking to put some sparkle into the holiday season at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth. A raffle for a 42-inch flat screen TV earned $4,872 that was then taken by restaurant employees Danielle Magee, Lynn Theberge and Nancy Clancy who shopped for Christmas gifts for the children in the hospital. Congratulations to Andy A., winner of the TV.

Win your Thanksgiving dinner. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it's almost time for the library's annual Turkey Shoot fundraiser. The Turkey Shoot isn't as violent as it sounds. It is a night of raffles in which attendees can win some or, if they are lucky, all of their Thanksgiving dinner. The Turkey Shoot is Thursday, Nov. 21 from 6-8:45 p.m. Read more about the fundraiser on Library Trustee Wendy Thomas' blog on Patch.

Weather watch. Expect today to be a windy one. Sunny skies and a high near 44 but a northwest wind of 11-20 mph will be met with wind gusts up to 31 mph. Tonight, the wind should die down and skies will be clear with a low around 22. Clear skies should make it possible to see the NASA rocket launch from Virginia tonight. Find out where and when to look.
