Hard Hats or Badges: Donate Your Food Now

Morning news and notes for Nov. 6

Food drive showdown. The Merrimack Police Department and the Department of Public Works' food drive competition is under way. Drop box locations are available at the Police Station, 31 Baboosic Lake Road, and the DPW Highway Garage, 80 Turkey Hill Road. The public is invited to drop donated goods at either location of your choosing, but most of all both agencies are urging the community to help those in need this holiday season. All food collected between now and Jan. 1 will go to local food pantries to serve those in need this holiday season. The choice is yours: Badges or hard hats!

Download free music. The Library continues to make use of a one-year subscription to Freegal, a service that allows you to, using your library card, download three MP3 songs each week! The titles are from the extensive Sony Music entertainment catalog; the music is free, legal and yours to keep forever. To get started, head to the Merrimack Library website and follow the directions to launch your Freegal downloading opportunities.

YMCA App.
Have you downloaded the YMCA of Great Nashua's mobile app? You can get group exercise, cycling, and pool schedules and other info about hours program events and more on-the-run. You can even download classes right onto your calendar. Get the app in the iTunes Store.

Weather watch. Today should be warmer than yesterday, and more fall-like with partly sunny skies and  a high near 56. Tonight, a slight chance of showers after 3 a.m. Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.
