Merrimack Rotary Names Officers and Directors

MERRIMACK – The Rotary Club of Merrimack installed 2014-2015 officers and directors at the annual “Changing of the Gavel Dinner” on June 26 at the Homestead Restaurant in Merrimack.

The new officers are Marge Chiafery (president for quarter 1); Andy Steeves (past president); Maureen Mooney(president-elect); Phil DeGregorio (vice president); Jane Hoover (secretary); and Paul Belfiore (treasurer). The following Rotarians were named to the Board of Directors for the club: Bill Wilkes, Bob Freed, Troy Aarthun, Lynn Christensen, Ron Douville, and Joyce Jobin.   Bill Wilkes, Ron Douville and Joe Mitchell will serve as president for quarters two, three and four respectfully. 

In addition to installing officers and directors, awards were bestowed to Chris Christensen (President’s Award) and Bob Freed (Rotarian Rookie of the Year Award), as well as attendance recognitions and committee chairmen appointments.

“The Changing of the Gavel is a time to reflect on all that the Merrimack Rotary accomplished over the last year, and welcome a new slate of officers and directors.  The Merrimack Rotary is a staple in the community and we take pride in honoring the Rotarians who keep it vibrant year after year,” said Marge Chiafery, the incoming president of the Merrimack Rotary for the first quarter.

Founded in 1971, the Rotary Club of Merrimack is a volunteer organization of business people and professionals supporting the community. Merrimack Rotary projects have included scholarships, reconstruction of Kids' Kove Playground, support for Merrimack flood relief, the Merrimack July Fourth festivities, the Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest, Interact Club, lighting at Reeds Ferry fields and more. The club works with other clubs on international projects like eradication of polio, Pure Water for the World, and hurricane relief in Honduras.
