Join the Y. For just a couple more days, the YMCA of Greater Nashua is offering an opportunity to help local families in need and save on a Y membership, too. Bring in to the Nashua or Merrimack branches a minimum of five non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local food pantries, and your membership join fee will be waived. You could save up to $100 with this deal. More information here.

Make 2014 the year of road races. Looking to stick to your New Year's resolution of keeping in shape? Consider signing up for Millennium Running's 2014 race series. Bedford Patch Editor Ryan O'Connor and I completed the 2013 series earlier this month and it was a lot of fun. There are numerous race series popping up around the state, encouraging fitness through running and helping keep participants racing on a regular basis, so if this one, run in the Manchester area isn't for you, there are other options. Read more about the series here.
