The Merrimack dog park is in the chase for serious funding via Pet Safe's "Bark for your Park" contest.

The prize money would help the local non-profit finish the dog park at Wasserman Park.

The "Bark for your Park" features a grand prize of $100,000, and four other communities will win $25,000 to build their dog parks, according to Pet Safe.

Merrimack has been nominated and there are nine days until the first part of the contest ends June 7.

One need not be a dog owner, or even live in town, to vote for Merrimack.

PLEASE VOTE twice a day. The competition is based in part on votes per capita and Merrimack appears to be in good position to qualify as one of 15 finalists. Other criteria include having a predetermined site, and community government support. sitework has started at Wasserman Park, but funds are needed for gates, fencing, improved parking and so on.
