Shaw's Eliminating its Rewards Card Program

Company president says it's slashing prices across the store.

In an effort to ensure that all customers receive the same great savings, Shaw’s and Star Market announced Thursday it will end its Rewards Card program on Friday, June 28.  As part of that, Shaw’s and Star Market will also lower prices on thousands of items across all of its 169 locations.

“All of our customers deserve to get the lowest price on their groceries without needing to carry a Rewards Card with them,” said Shane Sampson, president, Shaw’s and Star Market. “Our goal is to provide our customers with an experience that is simple, easy and focused directly on them.  Every customer who walks through our door deserves our best – from service to foods to pricing – and these lower prices are what our customers can expect from us every time they visit one of our stores.”

This list of price reductions includes categories across the stores with a focus on the items customers purchase most such as milk, eggs, bread, and more.  In addition to lower every day prices, Shaw’s and Star Market will still offer the great weekly sales and promotions customers have come to expect, all available card-free.

Card-free savings is also the start of a new marketing campaign called “You’re in for Something Fresh.”  The campaign highlights that customers are in for a new experience at Shaw’s and Star Market.  Customers will see a redesigned circular and new in-store signage designed to create excitement and illustrate the company’s commitment to quality products and great customer service.

"Our new marketing campaign highlights that there is a renewed commitment to quality and service at Shaw’s and Star Market,” added Sampson. “We’ve reinvigorated our brand and invested significantly in our business, and this is our invitation to everyone in the region to come and check out Shaw’s and Star Market.  It’s a new beginning for us and we have a lot of exciting things to come as we look to regain our position as the best grocery experience in New England.”
