Shaw's Plaza to Get Extreme Makeover?

Property management firm is marketing several retail spaces on Remax Properties along with naming rights for the anchor store.

For several years, Merrimack residents have wanted to see the former Shaw's Plaza on Daniel Webster Highway redeveloped with some new stores and it looks like they will finally get their wish.

According to the Remax Properties web site, property manager MEG Assets of Londonderry is marketing the shopping plaza. "Former Shaw's Plaza is soon to be renovated and re-named. *Naming rights for the new anchor tenant," the listing reads.

The listing also notes that several store spaces are available for lease, including the 37,000 square foot Shaw's Supermarket, which relocated to Continental Boulevard.

Merrimack officials want to see the property revitalized as well. In 2012, Community Development Director Tim Thompson said that the old Shaw's property and the former home of Zyla's have been designated as Economic Revitalization Zones to spur investment and redevelopment.

Attempts to get comment from officials at MEG Companies on Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful. But the Remax Properties listing generated quite a buzz on the MerrimackForum.org Facebook page.

Kristen McGrady wrote, "Yay!!! Finally! I would LOVE to see Market Basket in there!

Natasha Bairamova also shared what new business she would like to see go in the former Shaw's Plaza. "I would love a Trader Joe's there...."
