LifeLine Ambulance of NH and MA donates equipment, technology for theatre aboard Mass Maritime Training Ship Kennedy

LifeLine Ambulance donates technology and equipment to be used at sea on board the Massachusetts Maritime Training Ship Kennedy

LifeLine Ambulance Service (www.lifelineamb.com), the region’s fastest growing ambulance company and healthcare service, recently funded the construction and installation of a full theatre and training center aboard the TS Kennedy, the training ship for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The theatre is a modern facility on the bottom level of the ship, equipped with a large screen and state-of-the-art video and audio equipment including surround sound. This will enable the more than 800 Mass Maritime cadets and staff personnel greater recreational opportunities while at sea during their six week training mission.  With the state-of-the-art theatre equipment, students can view current movies and enjoy a level of recreation not previously available on the ship. The technology and equipment also plays an important educational role in that professors and instructors can utilize it during their classes at sea and while in port throughout the year at Buzzards Bay. 

LifeLine Ambulance Service has been very supportive of the Academy for many years.  Along with the Cadets, LifeLine helped design and implement one of the only fully staffed EMS college response systems in the country, equipped with a Class I licensed ambulance and other emergency vehicles and equipment, all donated by LifeLine.  The Mass Maritime Ambulance is in service 24/7 staffed by the Cadets who are also certified EMTs.  This school year, the ambulance has transported over 70 students and visitors to the hospital for various illnesses or injuries.  Along with the ambulance, LifeLine has worked with the Academy to teach multiple EMT programs on site at the Academy throughout the year and currently is in the process of designing an EMS training program that will allow the Cadets to be certified by the United States Coast Guard as “MPIC” which stands for Medical Person in Charge.  This level of certification allows the Cadets upon graduation to work in the shipping industry as a chief medical officer in addition to their other duties and responsibilities on board ships at sea.
