Senate Hopeful Threatens Forum Organizer

'You are always welcome to call me, but your first call should be to an attorney.'

A lesser-known candidate running for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire has threatened the organizer of a Republican forum for not inviting him.

Andy Martin claims there is a "conspiracy to sabotage my candidacy."

"You are always welcome to call me, but your first call should be to an attorney," Martin writes in a three-page letter sent overnight to Dave McCray, chairman of the Merrimack Business Association.

McCray is organizing the June 18 forum and his association invited Scott Brown, Jim Rubens, Bob Smith and Karen Testerman to the forum focused on taxes, health care and business issues

McCray said the Merrimack Business Association invited the four candidates and crafted the forum as a service to the business community and New Hampshire. In an interview, he shared the letter with Patch, and he said he knew next to nothing about Martin.

"I've never met the guy in my life," he said.

After receiving the Martin letter, McCray said he reassured the Merrimack Business Association's decision was a proper call.

Martin concluded his letter with another threat of legal action: "I note the Secretary of State does not list a registered agent for your firm (see attached), so we will have to send the sheriff to serve you personally with any legal papers. Please be clear that your biased, bush league political behavior cannot stand unchallenged."
