Richard Edmonds, 84, Former Merrimack Volunteer EMT

Edmonds was a longtime resident of Merrimack; leaves behind numerous loved ones.

Richard "Dick" R. Edmonds, 84, longtime resident of Merrimack, died Monday, Sept. 30, at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua, after a sudden illness.

Edmonds, who was born in Haverhill, Mass., on June 16, 1929, was a US Navy veteran serving during the end of WWII and the start of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Merrimack American Legion Post 98.

Edmonds became a fourth degree Knight in 1967 in N. Reading, Mass., and was also a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Church Queen of Peace Council 6725 Knights of Columbus, according to his obituary on Rivet Funeral Home's website.

Edmonds was a member of the board of directors for the John O'Leary Adult Community Center and CarePlus Ambulance, both in Merrimack. He volunteered as an EMT on the Merrimack Ambulance Rescue Service, where he also served as ambulance officer. He was also a member of the Merrimack Senior Citizens club, where he served as the President from 2007-08. Before retirement, he had a successful career at IBM.
