Flood Watch Issued for Much of New Hampshire

Merrimack, Hillsborough county among the list of areas under advisory until 11 p.m. tonight.

A flood watch has been issued for much of New Hampshire tonight, including Hillsborough County and the town of Merrimack.

The National Weather Service based out of Taunton, Mass., calls the storm "potent" and predicts 1-3 inches of rainfall throughout the course of the evening, with a warning that some areas could see 3-5 inches of rain.

"These rainfall amounts will result in sharp rises on rivers and streams today," the NWS flood watch notice says. "…In addition, flooding of urban and poor drainage areas is likely."

The flood watch is in effect until 11 p.m., according to an alert sent out from the fire department using its emergency alert program Nixle.com.
