Fundraiser Set to Maintain Historic 1938 Fire Engine

The fundraiser is scheduled for July 22 at The Homestead Restaurant.

The Merrimack Firefighters Association has organized a fundraiser to help maintain its historic 1983 International – Maxim Fire Engine.

The event is scheduled for July 22 at The Homestead Restaurant.

The engine was the first new piece of fire apparatus the town ever purchased, and it was in service from 1938 to 1980, according to Tim Dutton, president of the Merrimack Firefighters Association.

The association, which bought the engine from the town, invested more than $2,000 into the truck for repairs last year and Dutton thanked residents for their support and donations.

The plan is to have it in the Fourth of July parade, and show it off on a regular basis, and possibly a few antique car shows.
