Merrimack High School 'Assassin' Game Leads to Charges

Participants in the game collided in their vehicles on Thursday night, Merrimack Police said.

Merrimack Police said charges are forthcoming after a game of "Assassin" among some Merrimack High School students went wrong, resulting in two cars colliding on Wednesday night.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Merrimack Police said they recently became aware that students at Merrimack High are participating in a game called "Assassin." The goal of the game is to "assassinate" an assigned target using a squirt gun.

"Merrimack Police as well as the Merrimack School District do not sanction or condone the activities that are occurring even though participation is not a crime," Merrimack Police said on Facebook. "The Merrimack Police will prosecute to the full extent of the law any reported infractions including trespass and assault."

There was apparently an incident on Wednesday night where participants in the game actually collided in their respective vehicles, and police said charges are forthcoming. Police called the incident "a serious error in judgment" and said the involved parties are "extremely lucky" that no one was seriously injured.

Merrimack Police Capt. Peter Albert said an officer responded to a home on Lawrence Road to take a report of a motor vehicle accident that had occurred on Franconia Drive approximately 45 minutes earlier.

The 17-year-old male involved reported that he and a friend went to Franconia Drive to squirt another 17-year-old male who lived there in an effort to eliminate him from a game of "Assassin" being played by seniors at Merrimack High School.

At some point, Albert said, the male who resided at the home attempted to leave by backing down his driveway and struck a vehicle that was blocking the driveway. He said no one was injured, and the damage to the vehicles was minor, but police are investigating to determine if there was any improper driving involved.
