'Unsworn Falsification' Charge for Attempted Gun Buy

Merrimack Police say the man made an 'untruthful statement' on a federal application to buy a firearm.

Merrimack police said a Massachusetts man was arrested on a charge of unsworn falsification after trying to buy a gun from a firearms dealer in town without disclosing he was wanted on unrelated criminal matters in the Bay State.

Police said Stephen Eugene Gerrior, 38, of 214 Winn St., Burlington, Mass., was charged on the misdemeanor offense.

Gerrior made the untruthful statement on a federal application to buy the firearm on May 27, according to police.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and has a July 8 court date to answer to the charge.
