Toll Collection at Exit 12 Ends Friday

The last toll at the Exit 12 ramps in Merrimack will be collected at 9 p.m. on July 18.

Toll collection at the Exit 12 ramps on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack is set to end Friday, July 18, at 9 p.m.

The discontinuance of toll collection is the first phase of the project to remove the toll plazas at the northbound off- and southbound on -ramps, per legislation passed earlier this year.

It is a two-phase operation, the state Department of Transportation announced. After the toll collection operations cease, traffic will be guided along the ramp to the far right lane at each plaza, according to DOT. Traffic cones or other directional equipment will be used to help guide motorists.

This will allow for the removal of toll equipment and all toll signage, followed by construction crews removing the toll plaza and closing down the building facilities.

The second-phase construction will be completed under a contract scheduled to be advertised July 15. The plaza removal is expected to get underway in September, and be completed by mid-December, according to DOT.
