Merrimack Karate wishes to thank all those who participated in the 2012 Kick-a-thon. By collecting pledges and doing kicks, MERRIMACK KARATE students raised FOUR THOUSAND, TWENTY DOLLARS to be donated to the Merrimack Public Library’s Children’s room. Each year, Merrimack Karate offers an opportunity for their students to earn a community service badge and give back to the local community. When Merrimack Karate owners, Rick Giroux and Linda Ryan approached Yvette Couser, head of Children's Services about raising money for the Children’s room, Yvette shared her wish list. Included were: “book and CD kits for older children in grades 2-6, who are struggling with reading chapter books; and children’s furniture to create a child friendly space, where kids can cuddle up with a book to look at or read on their own”. Funds raised by the kick-a-thon will be used to purchase some of these items.
