Merrimack Woman Hit by Her Own Car After Parking It

Accident occurred in woman's Gail Road driveway.

A Merrimack woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by her own Ford F250, which she'd just parked in her driveway.

Police responded to the Gail Road home of Michelle Poirier, 39, on Saturday, Aug. 24, for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, police learned Poirier had an injury to her left leg that occurred when she was struck by her own vehicle.

Police say, from their initial investigation, it appears that Poirier had just parked her truck in her driveway, which has a small incline. Upon exiting the vehicle it began to roll back and her left leg was injured when it was hit by the front passenger side tire. It is not clear if the truck was not properly placed into the park position or if there was a mechanical defect, police say.

Poirier was transported by Merrimack Rescue to St. Joseph Hospital where she was treated for the injury. The accident remains under investigation.
