Hassan to Sign Bill Removing Merrimack Tolls

The bill also raises the state's gas tax by 4 cents, from 18 to 22 cents a gallon, to fund improvements, such as I-93 widening.

Gov. Maggie Hassan will sign a transportation funding bill, which also eliminates ramp tolls at Exit 12 on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack, into law during a ceremony Tuesday.

The governor will sign the bill into law during a ceremony at the Windham weigh station on Interstate 93 south. 

The bill raises the state gas tax from 18 cents to 22 cents a gallon and dedicates the revenues to transportation projects, such as the widening of I-93.

The bill also eliminates ramp rolls at Exit 12 on the F.E.Everett Turnpike in Merrimack and establishes a committee to study the effectiveness and efficiency of the state Department of Transportation.

The bipartisan legislation "strengthens investment in New Hampshire's transportation infrastructure and helps keep New Hampshire's economy moving forward by advancing critical road and bridge projects and finishing the expansion of I-93," according to the governor.
